Yoga teacher (and new mom too!)

In 2008 I trained at Yoga Trinity, Australia as a hatha yoga teacher. From there I assisted in Power, Dynamic, Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga classes and started to teach my own style of yoga fusing different aspects of different techniques. I found out through injury as a professional dancer, the need to develop muscles surrounding the joints. Yoga provided the perfect answer, strengthening lesser used muscles, highlighting unevenness in the body and also teaching me how to deal with an injury with grace, humour and patience.   My classes are a combination of a heating flow to prepare the body and dynamic held poses to create a strong and supple physique and facilitate a powerful practice. To maintain and deepen flexibility of the body and mind you need to develop the strength to support it. They will teach you to breathe through the more difficult poses and push further than you thought you could go. The Spiderman quote, ‘With great power comes great responsibility’ (originally from Voltaire) can also be applied to our bodies! We are blessed with a great capacity to achieve much with our amazing minds and bodies, but with this potential comes responsibility. It is us, and us alone who have the power to use our minds and bodies to their full potential. The responsibility for personal development falls at our own feet.   In my group classes, you can expect to sweat, to wonder, ‘just how long will she keep us in this warrior?’, to stretch your body and work into those ‘hard to get to’ muscles. You will explore inversions like headstands and other poses you never thought possible, gaining a greater understanding of your body and mind having fun in the process.   My private classes are tailored specifically to your needs addressing any injuries you may have, looking into reasons why they may have happened and worked towards a solution. If you have goals like running a marathon, cycling around Britain or perhaps just managing your busy schedule we will explore ways your yoga practice can help you to achieve them.   Yoga can help in all aspects of your life and is a great discipline to combine with other passions like running, swimming, cycling, weight training, dance… you name it! If you work in an office, are a professional athlete or just love to workout then yoga is for you.
