Iyengar Yoga teacher

Jelka is a dedicated practitioner and teacher of yoga. Gaining her professional certificate from the Iyengar Yoga Association UK in 2009, she has been teaching ever since. She is always looking for new ways to share yoga with her students so that they too can enjoy the many benefits of this wonderful practice. She has trained extensively with senior UK practitioners, including the renowned yogi Mira Mehta. For several years, she has been a regular student at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, Pune in India established by the founder of the Iyengar method, B.K.S. Iyengar, under whose direct tutelage she was privileged to develop her practice. More recently, Jelka has continued to deepen her understanding of yoga with Iyengar’s descendants – his daughter Geeta, son Prashant and granddaughter Abhijata Sridhar, further exploring the physical training alongside the practice of the pranayama and also participating in specialised medical classes. With a background in contemporary dance, Jelka continues to work as a choreographer, often teaching yoga to dancers, actors, professional athletes as well as general classes and one-to-one sessions in the UK and internationally. Her classes focus on the abilities and needs of the students and she promotes a safe and well-aligned practice, always striving to help them meet their individual goals. She is passionate about movement, art, travel, philosophy and disciplines that promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
